Due to the increasing of both complexity and diversity of the scientific and technical data, the CEA/CESTA needs powerful and versatile tools for data analysis. With the opportunities brought by the open-source world, the CEA/CESTA initiates an assessment study on Scilab for scientific computing. This talk will detail the methodology, based both on the knowledge of users and on existing software, in order to evaluate the feasibility of a progressive evolution to Scilab.
